Hippolit Bilinski founded a pharmacy in Pregrada in 1876 and named it “K Angjelu čuvaru” (To the Guardian Angel), modeled on the “Zum Schutzengel” pharmacy in Vienna. After his death, the pharmacy was taken over and run by heirs until its sale in 1892 to Adolf Thierry. In the same year, Thierry obtained a license to operate the pharmacy in his own name, and a year later Gjuro Carnelluti, known as Herman Bolle's builder, built the building to which the pharmacy “K Angjelu čuvaru” moved. The pharmacy is rented today and is protected in its original form.
Pharmacist Adolf pl. Thierry de Chateauvieux founded the first industrial production of medicines in Pregrada in Croatia and Southeast Europe, and the pharmacy business of the Thierry family was the forerunner of today's large pharmaceutical companies. The most famous products were Thierry's Miraculous Balm and Centifolia Ointment, which were protected by the “green nun” sign. Medicines produced in Pregrada were sold and appreciated throughout the civilized world.
