The “Grape picking“ festival in Pregrada originated from a simple fact: one seasonal job, very interesting to many – grape picking – was raised to the level of a ceremony celebrating the abundance and the associated joy of living in this part of our country. The area of Pregrada is famous for its vineyards distributed on the surrounding hills and ridges. A wine grower is bound to the vineyard and its cultivation, harvesting and pressing, as well as wine storage, throughout the year. “Grape picking” is a multi-day event that takes place in late September, and its main goal is to nurture the traditional customs of Hrvatsko Zagorje related to grape harvesting and processing, and to show and promote the traditional culture of our region. The event has a 50-year tradition, and it includes extremely popular cultural, sports, enological, gastronomic, children's and entertainment events.
