Monodrama as a theatrical form with on actor and the most difficult acting discipline appeared in the mid-18^th century in Germany. For almost 300 years, only the most daring actors have maintained that dramatic expression. For the last 20 years or so, Croatian monodrama has been experiencing a renaissance, and great plays have been performed by the best Croatian actors. This return of the monodrama to the very top of the Croatian theater is the reason for the establishment of the monodrama festival Monok@ (Monocat), which is held in early October at the House of Culture in Krapinske Toplice.
