The castle in Sveti Križ Začretje dominates the slopes of the nearby Krapina River and the Zagorje highway. The rear façade overlooks the center of the town, the core of which is a particularly harmonious baroque square with a church in the north and a park and castle in the south. The castle was built at the end of the Baroque period on several occasions. Its owners were the Keglević family, Sermage family, Vranyczany-Dobrinović family, among others. Today it is managed by the Mršić-Flögel family.

The castle houses the Museum of Heritage Culture and Memory, a multifunctional cultural center, congress and business center, which is also the headquarters of the Institute for Information Innovation. The castle is open for visits daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with prior phone notice.
